Working on an Emerson 7964 (all I could read on tag)I lost track of which wires were connected between switch and two wires at stator.
How can I figure this out?

By the way your forum is awesome!!

more than likely its either a 79646 or a 79648, is your fan a 12" or a 16"? if its a 12" its a 79646 if its a 16" its a 79648. Anyways do a search on here for Emerson 79646 wiring diagram and you should find what you need.as for figuring out which wires go to which terminals on the switch when you find the wiring diagram you'll need to measure each wire to find which wire is putting out the resistance reading corresponding to each terminal marked on the diagram.

Hope this helps,

Levi

If it’s a 2 Wire headwire, it doesn’t matter which way you connect them. AC doesn’t care about polarity. With a 3 Wire headwire, you must do as Levi indicated

Yeah lane is right, I have 3 of these so I know it is only a 2 wire head wire. It doesn't matter how you wire it to the speed coil.

Thank you! I have the 16 inch so it is a 79648, thanks Levi!I guess I need to learn more about motors. The drawings will help.
Maybe I can get it running again.
I repaired a Hunter Zephair about a year ago. I really like thing that are made to last.

Emerson fans are arguably the most reliable fans. Some people disagree but it is some opinion. When they said built to last they meant it.
