I am restoring my R & M fan I had to replace the neck shoulder screw( Learned the hard way it is left hand thread) Other than the new cord, cleaning it and re greasing it I have not touched it My problem is when I attach the oscillating arm to the wheel the fan seizes. When I disconnect the arm from the wheel, it  rotates and the fan works, I tried it in every hole on the wheel with the same results . For the love of me I cannot figure out what is happening!!!  Gentleman do you have any ideas? Sorry about the pics but I do not know how to rotate them in here

Several possibilities I think; The arm is not the correct one.
The arm is on upside down or reversed.

If the arm has a sideways bend and is installed incorrectly the bend could cause binding.   I've had this happen but not on an R&M and don't have one like yours to look at.

But I have these photos of a 6 wing List 2404 which might be the same.

My first guess is that you may not have the correct screw to attach the arm to the oscillator.  If it is a regular machine screw (threaded all the way to the head) and not a shoulder screw,  the oscillator will tighten the screw while it oscillates until it tightens up completely.  I only know this because I have done it more than once in the past.  If this is not the case, then refer to Steve"s post, above, for other possible solutions.

Contact Darryl Hudson (member) to get the proper left hand thread SHOULDER screw. A standard screw will not work for the reason stated above.
