Bought this 24-1/2 lb 16” Signal last weekend. I thought it was black, but after a ton of cleaning to remove the grime and nicotine, it is the correct blue grey as shown in the 1953 Signal catalog. Man, this thing moves some air!  My 16” Westy and Emerson are not even close.  Everything is original, and the only repair was to the oscillating unit. The brass gear that meshes with the rotor’s worm gear was worn badly; I simply removed the gear, turned it over and reinstalled on the shaft.
I don’t know what the spin down champ is, but this thing took 2 min and 8 sec!

I agree. I have two 10” models: a circa ‘37 550-A and a ‘40 450-A AC/DC.  They were fun to restore, and they look great.

I've got the Sears/Kenmore rebadge of that fan from 1955 but mine unfortunately has a shorted stator in it that I had found after I had went to the trouble of trying to restore it... :pissed

That’s a bummer :?    I haven’t yet decided where I’ll plant this beast. Probably in the garage area for max air!
