Wonder why there's so many holes in this one? Hopefully the switch is good, the main reason I bought it.

I was actually looking at this one and didn't buy it because of the holes. May be a bit tricky to fix because of the design for that year. Would be nice to have a 16 cake though!

It's pretty nasty. The holes will not be too tough to fill, probably could even use silver solder. Looking at it now, maybe that is not the correct switch?Looks like maybe the two bolts may be holding an aftermarket switch in there. I won't have the fan for a couple days. I had to coach her over the phone on dissasembly for shipping. I am hoping the parts are worth the $250 I gave for it, shipped. I should come out O.K. even if it's the wrong switch, considering the value of the oil cups, terminals, speed coil(if it's good),etc. She said she got it for $60 at an estate sale, I never find deals like that...

Yea me either.. I look multiple times a day every day and I don't find anything before 1930. If it is they want 600 dollars for it with no cord and no confirmation if it works. Everyone has rusty gold I guess :wondering:

If I am seeing it correctly, that is a 1905 base with what looks to be a 1903 switch. The holes look to be an attempt at mounting it between the bosses. The switch for 1903 started out round with no mounting tabs. When GE came out with the third variant for that year and continued into the 1904 models, they used an adapter plate for the round switch. It wasn't until later in '04 that the switch bodies had the ears molded in. If you need this piece, PM me and I'll send to you....
