I’ve decided to let this one go to make some room. This is an Emerson 79646-AX. 12” oscillator. 3 speed . We’ve been using this one on a regular basis and it runs perfectly and smoothly. It’s super quiet on low. This fan is completely gone over and is ready to run. Looks nice and runs as it should. New headwire and cord. Switch cleaned and serviced. New felt. All oil passages cleaned and relubed. Oscillator gearbox cleaned and regreased. Original paint on entire pan except new paint on blades as original. There are some scuffs in the rear bullet but no dents. The cage plating is in excellent condition, nice and shiny. While this isn’t a holy grail fan, it is a super reliable runner and needs nothing. SOLD, THANKS! plus shipping. Payment via PayPal F&F. Please PM me if interested. Thanks for looking ! I have the same exact fan that I just recently fixed up and I had two different Emerson switches one from a 1955 Emerson 77648 that a member on here that lives not too far from me gave me to either use for parts or try to get going, and one that was sent to me from Geoff Dunaway that came from a 79646 (I'm assuming that as he never told me what fan the switch originally came from) and the 77648 switch when it was mounted in the 79646 the fan ran really quietly and at a nice easy speed on low and medium (probably around 800 rpm on low and around 950 rpm on medium and around 1150 RPM on high) but then when the switch that I got from Geoff Dunaway came in the mail and I went to install that in the fan the fan was much louder and ran at a much higer speed on Low and Medium (around 950 RPM on Low and 1000 RPM on Medim and 1150 RPM on high). Do you have any ideas as to why two different Emerson switch/speed coils would make a fan run at differet speeds on Low and Medium? Is there actually a difference between a speed coil from a 16" fan vs. a 12" fan? I'm asking because that's the only thing I can think of that could cause such a significant speed difference between the two different switch/speed coil assemblies. Thanks for your help in this matter. Levi Last edited on Wed Jan 2nd, 2019 04:24 am by Levi Mevis |
