This is a family photo from 1938. Wondering if someone can tell me more about this fan on top of the radio maybe? (Sorry it is sideways, It wasn't that way when I loaded it...) I am trying to recreate the photo. I think there is also a camera, a clock, and a snow globe.![]()

It was 1938 and the radio was a brand new 1938 model. That is my mother in the photo. The photo was used in a newspaper ad. That side of the family seemed to have a lot of money. I sure wish I knew where it all went! I came up with the exact same radio which I need to restore, next step is the items on top..... The fan? The blade looks a whole lot like a 4 blade Barber Colman, but the base and grill don’t match up to anything I’ve seen before.

I agree about the blade shape. I can't even tell how many blades it actually has.... Last edited on Fri Feb 1st, 2019 11:35 am by Jim Nester |

Polar Cubs despite them being dime store fans aren't incredibly common anymore so they aren't going to be easy to locate, although the good news is that its not incredibly valuable because of it being a dime store fan so if you do run into one, it can be had for less than $50.

The polar cubs were made by Gilbert, the same company who made the Erector Sets.
