I figured only a few would trickle in today, but there were about a dozen. Rick Huckabee was first, then Lucas Bushera and his buddy John, and John Smalley are still here. There was also Stan Adams, Gary Blackledge, Steve Cunningham and his wife, "Fuzzy" Zito and his wife, and a few others can't remember all the names. Had a great meatloaf and homemade pork and beans. Come on out tomorrow! Last edited on Sat Feb 9th, 2019 12:39 am by Richard Daugird |

Feel free to organize one. In the case of every regional meet, there’s someone willing to do the hard work. We have 3 meets annually in the Northeast all hosted by different members and they’re a lot of fun. We have a great bunch of fan friends and all of our meets get great attendance. Maybe you guys in Texas can coordinate efforts and have multiple meets in and around Texas as we do in the Northeast. Hats off to Richard! And as Rocky says: Show us the Pictures! Richard is feeding us smoked brisket today. He smokes them 12 hours. That is exactly how brisket should be cooked. Attached Image (viewed 391 times):

I had a chance to visit with Richard last night. Richard runs a cooking team. Where there’s a disaster, they come. Feed all, for free. His equipment is huge. Has three crawfish boilers. The big one must be five feet across. He said he can cook 1200 pounds of crawfish every twenty minutes. Has a fryer that will do 12 turkeys at once. During Hurricane Harvey they served 35,000 meals. At Thanksgiving they serve 3500 meals. As soon as that’s done every machine is moved outside. Tables are set up. One room is for wrapping paper. People donate gifts. They’re wrapped. Just before Christmas the Galveston Police bring 3500 kids and each are given gifts. All voluteers.

Thanks so much for hosting this meet Richard! Hopefully this will be the first of many. And all who missed this event it was spectacular! And the fact there was draft beer to compliment the delicious BBQ JUST BLEW MY MIND. I’ll be back to the island every year as this event gains followers![]() Huckabee and I shared a workstation during the event. Lots of knowledge and fan fixing going on! ![]()

It was a fun meet. Richard went all out to make sure it was good. He fed us meat loaf Friday night. Barbecue brisket and sausage today. Weather was not friendly. Temp was 46, but a 25-30mph wind. That wind cuts right through you.Richard is coming by this week, and i’ll Load him up with fans. The facility was huge. I hope he has another one next year. Attached Image (viewed 296 times):

Thank you, Richard. Nancy and I enjoyed the meet and hope to see our new friends at Mardi Gras. Also, the pedestal Vortalex is a 1939. Thanks for encouraging me to acquire it. P.S. Part of the donation we made was money I found floating in the sump of the loading dock. I hope you don't mind! Last edited on Sun Feb 10th, 2019 07:54 pm by Mark Olson |
