Psssssssssssst….guard is steel...motor housing and base is cast aluminum....sand down the aluminum smooth...next cutting rouge on the buffing wheel and work your way down to give the surface a luster......mask off the areas you don't want black wrinkle finish and spray r down. Ace is the place for a new rotary switch and 18 gauge power cord. 

If the guard needs clean up wire wheel it clean with the badge off (fine wire wheel). Once its clean spray it down with a clear coat to seal it from moisture and oxidation.
