Thanks to both members who answered my questions and past posts on the Emerson 77648 fans, I was finally able to get this working. Besides a full disassembly and cleaning, fixing a dent in the bullet, and giving it a new color paint job (was that copper bronze color), it needed a new stator, wiring, and the oscillator adjustment knob and link. Changed the paint color and gave it a complementary color Corian base. Worth the effort as this is a tank and is balanced as if it was a high speed precision grinder! Crazy how much volume this thing pushes and is so quiet too. For 30 years I used this as a basement shop window exhaust fan and I decided I couldn't toss it after I (finally) installed a permanent thru the wall exhaust fan. Got this fan from my dad and happened to learn from a member that it was made just about when I was born ( was told this is a 1958 or 1959)....kind of neat.
Had lots of fun and learned a bunch....perhaps the most important one being that that the fan folks are darn nice and helpful. Maybe I'll do another one someday!
