The 16 inch motor was introduced in 1899 as a Bracket fan type UI form A. These were available thru 1903. In 1904, an appliance was offered to convert desk fans into bracket fans. In 1900 the 16 inch desk fan was intro'd in what collectors refer to as the Fishtail Base type UI form C. The Bracket and Fishtail fans had trunnion mounted motors. The 1901 16" type AA form A and 1902 16" type AA form B were solid frame models. The 1902 was a five speed. After 1902 thru 1908, all 16 inch fans were trunnion mounted motors. The latest recorded serial number is 325389 for a 1908 16 inch Cake. 1908 Pancakes ran side by side with the new model three speed BMY fans in the 1908 catalog.
You can see all of the 16 inch GE Pancakes at the AFC Museum. They have been on display at the museum since 2015...….and my wife loves that they have been on display at the AFC Museum since 2015...
