I am working on restoring a small Dominion fan. I realize this is not a highly sought after fan, but it has several problems which will be good learning opportunities for me. This is only my third fan.

I do not have much hope for the cage, but my main question is when did the fan industry go from fabric-covered power cords to the "modern" rubber" cords which look like lamp cords?
I think this is an early 1950's fan. Am I close?
Thanks!
