Hello all, I have a question concerning the GE motor used in this fan.  I remember reading that these motors were prone to failing, specifically on medium speed.  I can't seem to find this information again.

Also looking around my unit seems to be a later fan as it uses two knobs to control the fan rather than push buttons.  While cleaning it I did find "74" stamped on the back of the blade hub.  1974 seems late for Lakewood to be making such a fan.

For reference, I'm not new to fan collecting, nor is this my first fan of this type, it is the first fan I own fitted with the GE import motor.  My other all metal Lakewood is fitted with a Westinghouse motor.  After that, it's McMillan's.

(Sorry about the image size, it's not actually hosted on the site, it's pulled from my google photos and my phone takes massive photos.)

So at best it seems these motors are a mixed bag if the motor fails or not.  I wonder if someone ever got a hard failure rate number down.

Mine is running well under under the nameplate amperage, but I'm still going to slate it for a grounded cord and inline fuse.
