J. Loyd Davis was an avid fan collector and member of the AFCA until his passing in 2011. For the FIRST TIME since Loyd's passing, more than 150 antique fans from his 30-year+ fan collection will be auctioned by his son, Randy Davis, on Ebay under the seller name:  jld-fanman

The fans will be auctioned individually on eBay every week from now through December 31, 2019.  EVERY FAN will be auctioned with NO RESERVE and will have FREE SHIPPING & INSURANCE anywhere in the Continental U.S.!!!  Link to Ebay site is here.

Below is an ad that will appear in October AFCA Fan Collector newsletter that shows some of Loyd's better fans that will be auctioned individually along with many other good quality fans in November and December.  Note a PDF of the ad is also attached to this post which has better quality images of the fans.

Loyd's widow, Patty, is now 82 years old and suffers from Dementia / Alzheimer's. She is receiving excellent care at a new facility that is specifically designed for memory care. ALL PROCEEDS from the sale of every fan will go to directly to assure that she continues to receive the highest quality of care. We hope that everyone can get a fan that they will enjoy as much as Loyd did.

UPDATE:  We now have an internet ad up and running on the Maine Antique Digest website that will run through the end of this year.  Link to internet ad is here.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!

I have been seeing the auctions on eBay, he had acquired a lot of nice fans. Hopefully the family does well off the sale!

Thanks Mark.  It was our father's wishes that the fans be sold to take care of our mom when the time came, and now is the time.  Hope you can get a fan or two that you like!

Hey Curt. I can't wait to see some of the rarer fans in your dad's collection. Is there any way you can "whet our appetite" by posting pictures of some of the rarer fans? I think I saw a bank teller fan in the picture above and one or two fans from the 1890's!

Hi David,
In addition to the picture embedded in the post above (which is kind of fuzzy I know) I also attached a PDF that you can download which has better resolution for the photos of the 19  featured fans.

If you or anyone else would like better pictures of any of those fans then post a reply here on which one and I will post better pics when I can.

Those fans featured in the draft AFCA ad above are what we think are the best/rarest fans in the group of fans (>150) that we are auctioning in 2019.

But we are not experts and so I encourage everyone to watch the Ebay site as we have a lot of very good fans to sell. We had to pick a good representative set of "the best" fans to include in the ad but there are many many more that we know are good, and given the wide variety it was very hard for us to decide what to include for those featured in the ad.

Thanks for your interest.

Thanks for the pics, Curt. Those fans thus far are way above my collection goals, but I look forward to seeing the more plebeian offerings, if there are any :D

Good luck with your auctions!

Hi Todd,
There are many good quality fans that are for sale on Ebay now and every week until end of year.  The first batch of 20 fans will close in 2-3 days.  Link is posted in Don Tener's reply above.  We have another 10 or so ready to go live after the first batch closes.  Hope you can find something in your sweet spot.

Thanks for your interest.

Curt

Auctions for the first batch of 20 fans from the collection are almost done.  We sold 19 out of 20 so only 1 "no-bid" clunker in the bunch so we consider this a good result for the first set.
We appreciate the messages and support from AFCA members and especially some of the stories/reminisces about both our parents.

Also special thanks to AFCA member Jerry "brassfanman" (Ebay handle) who had sharp eyes and noticed a problem with one of the blades on the back side connection to the hub of the 12" Emerson #21666.  Because of this we were able to add a close in photo of the issue and let all bidders know of the new information so they had time to adjust their bids.

We are learning as we go so appreciate the support and help of AFCA members.

We have the next lot of 10 fans from the collection posted on Ebay.

These 10 fan auctions will close next Wednesday evening 9/18/19.

Below is a gallery pic for 8 of the 10.

The 12" GE Type AP and the 9" R&M Free Flag are my two favorites in the bunch and they are already getting some bids.

29 fans sold out of 30 auctioned so far on Ebay.

~130 fans more to go this year.

We have had some "flea" bites on "FleaBay" this week.

This has been disappointing, but we appreciate very much the honest bidders and buyers out there as we try to offer everyone an equal opportunity to bid and win fans from our father's collection.

We also appreciate the helpful comments and encouragement from many AFCA members shared with us via PMs here on the AFCA forum and also via Ebay messages.

Special thanks this week goes out to AFCA members Stefan Osdene and Steve Rockwell.

10 more fans are live on Ebay now for sale.  I will post a gallery photo lineup shortly.

Curt, I’ve been watching your auctions with a lot of interest, and I’m sure other folks here have been as well! I was rapidly outbid on the one fan that caught my eye, but I'll be watching for your future batches. Good luck!

The next lot of 10 fans from the JLD collection is posted on Ebay.

These 10 fan auctions will close next Tuesday evening 9/24/19.

Below is a gallery pic for 5 of the 10.

The 9" 4 blade Emerson is getting a lot of bids already, but personally I like the 12" 6-blade R&M the best; it just looks cool to my eyes anyway!

Todd and Cam:

Thanks for your support. We had some disappointing things happen this week, but appreciate your kind words and interest in the fans.

37 fans sold out of 40 auctioned so far on Ebay.

~120 fans more to go this year.

No "flea" bites on "FleaBay" within the last week.   :D

We did block a few flea accounts from bidding this week. Maybe that helped (?).

8 more fans this week are on live Ebay now for sale.  I will post a gallery photo lineup shortly.

The next lot of 8 fans from the JLD collection is posted on Ebay.

These fan auctions will close next Tuesday evening 10/1/19.

Below is a gallery pic for 5 of the 8.

The 12" 6-Wing Emerson #19666 will probably get a lot of attention.

But personally I like the 10" GE Vortalex with the funky blades and cage; I am a sucker for cool looking deco fans.

44 fans sold out of 48 auctioned so far on Ebay.

~110 fans more to go this year.

This week we opened up the auctions to international bidders/buyers and had a lot of international bidders (Canada, Taiwan, Honk Kong, etc.) on many of the fans.

Two fans sold this week went to international bidders, but they have to pay for shipping.

10 more fans this week are on live Ebay now for sale.  I will post a gallery photo lineup shortly.

The R&M 3600 had a 5 wing blade, (like for a 2610) Can't see why that would not effect the operation

Below is another pic of the 5-blade R&M 3600. Currently this has the most bids for the current batch of fans.

We have no idea. The blade was on the fan when we did the inventory of my dad's collection, so we think it is original but we are not experts.

52 fans sold out of 58 auctioned so far on Ebay.

~100 fans more to go this year.

There was very active last second "snipe" bidding on several of the better fans this week.

Also two more fans were sold this week to an international buyer (Vietnam).

12 more fans this week are on live Ebay now for sale.  I will post a gallery photo lineup shortly.

These fan auctions will close next Wednesday evening 10/16/19.

Below are gallery pics for 10 of the fans.

While technically not a pure "fan", my favorite this week is the Markel Electric Heet Air which features a very ornate deco-style base, column, and enclosure.

I have Vornado fan/space heaters in both my home and office, but nothing that is this "hot"   :D

60 fans sold out of 70 auctioned so far on Ebay.

~90 fans more to go this year.

We have had many repeat buyers over the last several weeks which is good to see, and multiple buyers have bought three fans already.

12 more fans this week are on live Ebay now for sale.  I will post a gallery photo lineup shortly.
