|Bob Schoonmaker sold me this beauty and I did some work on it. Rick Powell re-jappanned the base which was in tough shape. The paint everywhere else is original. The gears are pristine. Darryl Hudson made a replacement guide screw for the arm of the oscillator and Ron Bethoney refinished the brass. I painted the badge. I have asked Darryl to reproduce George Durbin's cord minder and while I wait for that I tried my hand at making one myself. It didn't turn out too badly. Here are some before and after pictures. It runs perfectly on both speeds.
Here is a closeup of my attempt at a cord minder:
It isn't very pretty but it works quite well to keep the cord from interfering with the movement. The wires to the head and the power cord are the original wires from the fan so I used them as they were with a little shrink wrap here and there and some better clips on the ends to connect to the speed coil.
I was surprised at how nicely this design works and how heavy this fan is. This might be the heaviest twelve inch fan that I have worked on.
