Hello to all who post on the BST forum.... The BST rules state that all listings must include a price. These rules further state that "make an offer," listings will be removed. Currently, the BST does not address listings where links to items for sale on auction sites are posted. There has been recent debate whether providing a link to an item for sale on an auction site satisfies the requirement that a price is listed. Because of this lack of clarity, the rules have not always been applied uniformly. Your board of directors will be reviewing the current policy and look to make changes as needed to make a better buying/selling experience for all that use this forum. Thank you

Thank you all for addressing this issue. That is one example that you have discussed. I've seen over the years some members can post up a fan stating XXX + shipping , then others will post a question/comment then fan is marked SOLD . I'm wondering what I missed and still do not know what goes on with no price listed. PM? I guess. Most other members get politely told that they must post a price. BOD needs to review policy and Moderators should be consistent in enforcing policy.

Rick, the answer to your question could be that sellers simply delete or X out the price once a fan is sold. Few sellers leave the price intact after a fan is sold and this is done for many reasons. Some fans sell within minutes of listing them and the deal closes that fast too. So I find that sometimes a fan is posted, is sold, and the price is deleted or changed to $xxx in a matter of minutes. Maybe an explanation for your question.

If you post a price and picture then someone pm's you a price you can live with and you sell it then that will be an exception to the rule and we have NO WAY to monitor such sales... U understand that right? It is an honor system of sorts and there will always be exceptions to the rules... We can pick fly specks out of the pepper here but as we find obvious problems we have control over we will deal with it... Geo... Last edited on Thu Nov 14th, 2019 12:31 am by George Durbin |

Really Guy's , can you list 3 reasons why people take down a price after a sale or don't list a price? I'd like to know . Deception is a good word for it . Can you do that on ebay? Yes there are always many ways to get around most anything , but why? List a price for a fan as per fan forum rules that have been in place for a very long time and all members are aware of , U can understand that ... right?

I guess if it’s decided that prices must remain after the item is sold, then that should be listed in the rules and policed. Until then, it’ll probably happen as it has been. I really don’t care either way. There are times that the buyers have asked me to delete the price after it’s sold. I guess they don’t want their spouses to find out what they paid for it 😂 However, removing the prices actually keeps the club from becoming a pricing service for those who only contact the club when they want to flip a fan on eBay with a crappy restoration job. Thankfully members recently have shown restraint in freely offering pricing advice. And therefore it seems lately we’ve had a lot less requests for pricing.

Though it’s not specifically mentioned in the rules, if someone lists a fan for sale, with a price and a picture. And it sells, the seller should Mark It As Sold. And perhaps the idea of marking it with$ XX is another way of saying sold. On other selling platforms like Facebook marketplace and ETSY, they ask that once the item has sold, it is marked as such. Or that the seller remove listing. As George mentioned, there is no way for our club to monitor back door sales. The only thing we can do is to make sure that sellers that post fans and alike are posted on the forum, follow the set of rules the Board of Directors has set forth...I can understand your frustration, there is nothing like seeing a fan and thinking that you want it, and then it’s been snatched up…
