Big thanks to Patrick Ray for finding the correct blades and selling me the front bearing carrier for the fan as well. Going to do a classic restoration on this one I think. Satin black with the brass Oscillator controls/worm cap, and eight motor bolts polished. Blade will get a gold paint finish to finish it off. The badge is small enough the nickel color doesn't look to imposing for the color scheme.I just have to solder the S-wire I made to the cage to get it ready for break down, restoration of finish, and rewire.
Here it is assembled, balanced, and running acceptably well.

I do really need to slow down on buying sad-case fans, but it feels nice to revitalize and carry on the function of odd budget fans.
I did dump a total of $100 in the fan and parts. Once completed, it'll be a nice runner hopefully. :)

Have an old Singer 1901 on the way as well. :hammer:

Nice Job, Good to see a fellow faniac bringing one back from the dead. interesting I have this identical Westy, picked it up at a yard sale about 1969 or 70 as a perfect low mileage original. It was just an old fan back then and I used it in my shop for many years. I could kick myself now as it is covered with every color car and truck I ever painted in that shop. The good news is I still have it and it awaits restoration and a proper paint job of its own.

Terry
PS, Remember that Westinghouse is the only fan that runs the correct direction; everybody else is backwards, I wonder why?

Thank you, Terry!Good to see another member with one of these oddities in working order awaiting restoration. :)
Having had yours 50 years, that is impressive to say the least. Nice to know those motors can take a bit of usage.   :DI have definitely gotten into the Westys more lately. They feel like a real challenge to get working properly. Not having floating bushings has been the main concern I have with them. Otherwise I have enjoyed working on them. After the 12" BB/SC project, the little 8" Oscillator will be getting the royal treatment.Hopefully it'll turn out looking like the 164848G, except with gold painted blades instead of brass and aluminum badge instead of the big W.

Will be looking forward to seeing yours when you get to it! :)
