Hey George, if you have Oscar personally sign your Jr.’s and call them Dachshund Silo Fans you’ll make a killing. I’m offering a hunnert thou for 0001. 😉

From the outside looking in this banter projects an unfriendly image. Should we pick at people who don't have the same outlook on fan restoration/customization as you or I.  Like the patina wars the choice to customize or not customize and whether to promote your fans or not seems like a reasonable choice and one that goes both ways in the AFCA membership.

I think it's funny, can't really take all this fan stuff that seriously with what is going on in the world. I have seen you you guys ready to go to war over patina VS bling, etc. These are appliances. period. Some are de-facto museum pieces. Motors with a blade. Yup. Make it a lamp, a clock - who cares. There are ship loads of antique / vintage fans out there. ANd when have you seen a 1890s -1910s fan turned into a lamp?? Many fans have been stripped down & sold for parts.

I think Geo coined the term "Flamp" and I immediatly thought of "Vamp" by Sonny and Cher.

Where would Mule Shoe have placed at our convention if competing as a mashup?  I gotta give the guy credit for creativeness if nothing else.  Possibly dead last based on the competition, but it would have been fun to see.
I also would much rather laugh than complain, so a little friendly banter is perfectly harmless.  Lighten up Francis and turn that frown upside down.

Kinda what I was thinking, the big snowflake is not to my taste, but the rest of it is nicely done. $700 nice? The jury is still out...

That cage is robust. That's a bit of an understatement.
My arms hurt at the thought of rolling 1/4" brass in that tight of a circle.
Also, I'm not sure of what fan it was to start with, but it rips! Put a diode in that thing.
Cheers,
Bill

While the fan in question is surely beautiful, I'm a firm believer in leaving a fan just as it came from the factory, such as this original condition GE. I think anyone who deviates from this should be given a liter of Smirnoffs and made to serve a term on the Board of Directors....
