I bought this fan at FF19. It's a 3 speed AC-DC, brass blade, brass plated cage and struts. I knew that the fan needed two brushes and two brush caps but I discovered when I removed the switch plate that the nichrome switch coil was fried! Is there anyone that would want to rewind it for me? I've got it all disassembled except for the struts because they are riveted to the motor housing.I'm going to work around it the best I can while restoring it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I cant do it, but resistance wire is easier than building AC coils. These guys will have insulated resistance wire. https://pelicanwire.com/product-category/resistance-heating/insulated-resistance-wire/?filter_alloy=nichrome-60%2Cnichrome-80&query_type_alloy=or&filter_insulation=ceramic%2Ccotton%2Ce-glass%2Cenamel%2Cetfe%2Cfep%2Csilicone%2Cs-glass%2Cptfe-tape%2Cpfa%2Cp300%2Cnylon&query_type_insulation=or# Last edited on Tue Dec 3rd, 2019 02:30 am by Chris A. Did the seller know your fan had more options? ![]()

Michael Rathberger wrote: Russ Huber wrote:Did the seller know your fan had more options? Ya. It appears to have done ages ago. If his 2 sets of windings in the stator are still intact, that would be a good thing. The only reason I can come up with for the funky switch giving option for AC or DC is the DC winding in the stator would have higher ohms. The 3 speed settings per side would be wired identical to the same nichrome taps in the switch coil, if I am right about higher ohms in one of the two windings. The fan would otherwise run faster on same voltage DC current. Last edited on Tue Dec 3rd, 2019 07:15 pm by Russ Huber |

There are only 2 wires coming out of the stator. There are no marks on the switch plate indicating that it was set up for DC. There is a screw coming out of the switch cover, used as a stop. Maybe thats the way it came from the factory? Thanks guys for your replies.![]() Struts riveted to the motor housing ![]()

The screw is used as a stop so the switch cannot be turned from AC to DC or DC to AC without removing that screw.
