Thanks to everyone for the wonderful information on restoration of vintage and antique fans. My wife inherited a family members Fresh'nd-Aire Model 1700 many years ago and it is used daily. We both got married in 2010, but her fan motor seized and switch died in 2008. I didn't know much else at the time but to replace the motor with a Dayton #1549D 1/3hp and switch with a Zing Ear ZE-208S II. It's ran like a dream until last week. The import switch chain broke so I'm replacing it with the same brand which was available in local big box. I recently found the old saved motor & Switch and made this drawing when I worked on it in '08, might be helpful to others. I need to order a better brand of switch as these never last long.

I have the original Levolier 400 switch but it's missing the pull chain and the "L" wire is no longer connected as it fell off when dissembled in '08. I've read on this forum the cleaning and chain attachment instructions with great photos. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
