I have been cleaning parts. Iron and steel in the electrolysis bath, gears and other stuff in lacquer thinner. When I took the collar out of the wash and brushed it for the second time, I noticed that it was a very nice piece, compared to others of its type. So I buffed it. Wow! I think I may finish it and polish it for a bit of bling! What
are your opinions?

The metal is called Zinc Alloy. There are all kinds of qualities. The lowest grade is “Pot Metal”. They would literally throw everything in the pot, melt it, and use it. The high end is being used by NASA today. Your part looks excellent!
