Hello, I am restoring 29646. I've noticed pics of beautifully restored Emersons which have brass screws , oscillating arm, etc. Occasionally a nickel finish. Currently most of my parts have been painted. Are theses parts brass underneath the paint? If so could I strip paint and polish? If not how do I obtain or make happen?...Many thanks for answers as I am a novice.Virgil

The linkage will be bronze. Everything else is steel under the paint.

Purists will tell you to paint them when that is the way they were originally regardless of the bronze or brass under the paint. Others will tell you to go with what pleases your eye. In the end, it's really up to you.
