Hello,  This is my second attempt to find a gear or the sub assembly it mounts in.  My brass gear is so worn out,it never interfaces with the steel gear on the motor shaft. That shaft gear slides over them worn brass gear and never touches or interfaces with it. Using a flash light I can see a gap between the 2 gears. 
I believe the sub assembly is used in other R. M. Fans of that era.  Attached are photos. Thank you.

I have a similar post on the BST forum for an R&M 5600 fan that I am working on.  I guess these are the weak point for those fans.  Maybe we can come up with a good solution for this.  TIme to start digging.
