The Vornado I am working on I have taken apart the motor again cleaned it and reassembled it so it spins very free. When plugged in direct to power it seizes up. I can not turn it while its humming. Turn off the power and it spins free and good. The only thing I can think of is a bad stater where something broken is causing the magnetic to screw up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeh6cpXzXrQ

There is some looseness in the bearings allowing the rotor to move sideways when the stator is magnetized. There could be something wrong with the bearing mounting parts (some spring stretched out etc.) or the housings could be misaligned so it's almost rubbing, then rubs when under power.
