Harry Shedd was bolting fan motors off the market into Thomas Weyant's patented oscillating gizmo. They were being demonstrated at the 1901 Pan American Expostion in NY. The mechanism was only a one year run.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited on Tue Jan 12th, 2021 06:32 pm by Russ Huber |

Why doesn't one of the talented brass workers here reproduce that vane?

It's interesting the design of the first set of pictures, the motor is mounted in the center and the base extended. Later, it's offset. Bill pointed out this would make it oscillate easier because of back weighting but it looks like it also was to bring the motor, and therefor cage, closer to the base to simplify it and allow for maybe 360 degree oscillation. Both Weyant and Eck had a head wire prior to Weyant getting the jump on the 360 degree wind principle oscillation for the 03 season.![]() ![]() ![]()

You may get lucky down there one day. Shedd marketed through Metropolitan supply. My bet someone in South America has one in the attic. ![]() Last edited on Tue Jan 12th, 2021 07:11 pm by Russ Huber |

That fan has the head wire going into a grommet on the lower back but right above it a pair of external contacts, huh?
