Did you look on the motor itself for some oil ports? They might be somewhat hidden if they are the type that are the ballbearing that pushes in to let the oil in, because they might be gummed up with oil.

It might be one of those "permanently lubricated" motors that have to be disassembled to be lubricated. I have a 1970s vintage Berns Air King box fan that has a Westinghouse "Permanently Lubricated" motor in it that all I had to do was disassemble the motor and drop several drops of oil into the bearings and it worked great afterwords.
