I think GE made a bunch of thiose with handles like that. They where just painted the same as the rest of the fan. What you have is the newer style after the cast iron type.

Wow it looks like it just popped out molding sand, threw me. Thanks for the G.E. link, somewhere i have a blue DC vorty that i need info on.
