I can't imagine this over-strike being
done during production at the Emerson
plant.

I'd guess the motor was modified to run
at 6o cycles.   Note the "R" stamp at top.

Original frequency,...  5o?

i thought I had a 1929 Emerson JR 12”. Donald Coleman restored my badge and he stated that what I thought was a dent, was a strike over, a “10” stamped over a 9. The photo doesn’t show it very well but look at the bottom of the badge you can make something out that looks like a dent, but it’s a stamped “10”Best Regards, Malcolm MacGregor..
