[Topic line should say 21646 not 21645 (my fat fingers)]
Last night, while my wife watched reruns of Downton Abbey, I was surfing the web and happened to be on Facebook marketplace when the fan below popped up for $300. I sent an email to the seller who was 45 minutes away from me to see if it was still available. There only two pictures of the front and she said that it was a 21646. I asked her if it ran and she said she was afraid to plug it in but didn't think that it ran. So I made the trip today to look at it.

I got it home and plugged it in. Nothing happened. I removed the twenty foot cord on it and replaced it with a new cord and it fired right up on three distinct speeds (after I put a little oil in it). Amazingly, the ball detent was all there and worked perfectly. The paint on the case looks fine but the base is totally rusted. I may ask Rick Powell to re-japanne the base and the gear case after I work on it a bit. I'm thinking I got a good deal even though I already have this particular model (see picture below).

What do you think? Did I get a good deal for $300?

David, you got a great deal in my book! That's a beauty and I would have jumped on it at that price in a heartbeat. Even better that you have one in that good of a condition.

Made good progress today. As I suspected the Japanne on the head case was in terrific shape.

I have some three conductor Tony Clayton wire that will work perfectly with this stator.

On its way tomorrow to Rick Powell for his craftsman touch!

More progress. Fan runs great with new grease in the gear case.

New Tony Clayton head wire. Three good distinct speeds.

Brass goes to New England brass refinishing on Monday and base off to Rick Powell for japanning (too much rust and paint loss.
