I found this Polar cub turned into a utility motor... The Cub was made a variable speed motor by attaching it to a variable resistance light bulb socket! I love this stuff and the genius! who thought of it and the need for it!  

Who thinks this is cool?

Cool. Not certain the dim a lites hold up long term to running a motor or fan but never tried for long, just 30 seconds or so.

It's a home made something or other.  What Wirt failed to advertise back when Dewey Cheatem and Howe weren't as hot on the liability trail as today is how toasty those buggers can get when dialed down to highest resistance.  Enjoy your toy!  :clap::D

     U took the typed words right out of my fingertips !!!   I've got several repurposed  oddities like that , but no flamps. I do have one  lamp converted to wallmount fan though , courtesy of the genious of Larry Mong & Jim Kovar  :dude:
