Hello,Please help guide me on how I should isolate and fix my Emerson 77648-SO. It was running pretty well and I went to move it and didn't pay enough attention on my thumb placement. Thankfully I'm  all healed  up now and won't mention the carnage to the thumb 😀
After this it is shaking so badly, I can't even let it get up to speed. Where and how should I start fixing this? Possibly loosened or bent a blade?
With it starting, I don't really hear any rubbing or hitting of the blades. With the front grill off and manually turning the blades, I notice one blade rubbing sometimes one sometimes Two of the forks on the back cage arms.
I do notice a small amount of play between the head and the base going front to back guessing 1/4" and Possibly a half an inch of play going side to side. I do not know if it is normal or not.
I first want to fix the shaking, then I will clean it and relube or whatever I need to do as well as put on a new cord.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Ron

I'll take a few pictures as I do some research on balancing blades and find which one is the culprit.
Thank you

Overlap blades like that usually need to be strobed. You can use something flexible like a cable tie to check each wing for front to rear alignment.  All wings must run in the same plane. If one is bent back, it’ll wobble.

Pinch the cable tie against the cage with your finger then rotate the blade by hand using the cable tie as a gage to check each wing.  Check at several places on the wing. It only takes 1/8” difference to cause a vibration.
If it struck your thumb, it may also be out of clock, which is best done with a strobe.  You can rudimentarily measure the spacing between wings, but that rarely works very well.

You mention 1/4 in and out play- that’s too much. That can only be fixed by adding fiber washers by taking apart the motor.  However the 1/2” play side to side is of concern.  With Emersons there’s usually very little play in that direction, and may indicate a worn bearing tube or rotor.

As I said, those overlap blades can seldom be made perfect without a strobe.  Best luck!
